Safe Haven for Queer Youth

Queer Connections was formed in 2023 to provide its members an opportunity to use their voice to speak up about what challenges they are facing in their day to day lives.  The group has established a queer library to showcase queer identities and help the 2SLGBTQIA+ identities combat misinformation about the queer community. Alongside the queer library, the group has adapted a “Queer Closet,” for individuals to donate clothing and browse the selection for gender affirming clothing.

Queer Connections is hoping to help youth build connections within the community by hosting fun events. In early November, there was a Halloween dance, in which folks were encouraged to dress up and bring their friends. This event had a costume contest, with prizes for first, second and third place.

Other fun activities included craft nights, boardgames, pride flag themed paint night, pizza, and karaoke night.
