Lead With Kindness
At Sacred Heart Community School, a core theme has been created called GRIT (Growth, Resilience, Integrity, and Togetherness) to Graduation. The goal is to have students graduate as contributing members of society who treat others well. To achieve this, Social Emotional Learning is taught to promote mental health and kindness. There is a daily assembly and a weekly theme that is explored in different ways. The students love helping with the skits and doing the read aloud for the younger students. The Grade 7 and 8 students take on a leadership role in the building by helping the school Counsellor plan and implement the lessons and weekly themes. The younger students are also encouraged to be leaders in their own classrooms. At Sacred Heart Community School, they believe in the power of GRIT to help students succeed and become positive members of society.
