Brevoort Park School’s Month of Kindness

Students at Brevoort Park School kept busy by making an entire month about kindness. Staff and some grade 8 students kicked off the month of kindness by preparing and delivering hot chocolate to each classroom.  This provided a great winter treat and an opportunity to foreshadow the future fun activities.

The Brevoort Park School Grade 8 class presented cards and flowers on behalf of the school to the Preston Park II Retirement Residence.  Students and residents enjoyed doing puzzles, listening to a live band, and great conversations. The success of this event lead to the kindergarten care partners joining the grade 8’s in delivering bouquets of flowers door to door in the community. Individual classes delivered handmade Valentine Day cards to the community as well.  This resulted in numerous emails of appreciation from the community.

Furthermore, the classes signed the kindness pledge, “We believe that if we work together and choose kindness, we can change the world.” This became the bulletin board display, which tied in the Pink Shirt Day.  Teachers gave each student a personal positive message a positive affirmation sticker.  Students were also entered to win kindness bracelets when they were caught doing acts of kindness.
