CISV Mini Camp

On June 8th and 9th, Children’s International Summer Villages (CISV) Saskatoon held their first overnight Mini Camp since the Covid-19 Pandemic. The theme of the camp was “Just Keep Swimming” and it was attended by 36 participants, ranging in age from 8-17. These participants came from different communities in Saskatoon and surrounding areas, and represented diverse identities, including different ages, cultural heritages, religious beliefs, gender identities, and abilities.

During the camp, we sang songs, expressed our ideas through art and drawing, practiced relationship-building skills, and learned about being friends with people who are different from us. We used teamwork to solve challenges, appreciated our space in nature, and created discussions about inclusivity, being open-minded, and celebrating the things that make us different, all while seeking the things we have in common.

The two-day mini camp was filled with fun and educational activities centered around diversity, perseverance, discrimination, and friendship. These activities were planned and run by youth leaders aged 14-17. CISV’s goal is to educate and inspire action for a more just and peaceful world, and we all had a lovely time being together.
